Computer games and its harmful effect on us, so let us start with the very basic question as to who are affected by this. Well, the most common group to be affected by computer games are the teenagers and young kids from the age of 8-20 years old.

Well, if we talk about why it is important or helpful then not a lot of positives can be taken out but yes we can say that it helps the child to develop his/her cognitive thinking in a much better manner. The children are able to perform basic day-today life activities with much more precision and develop good hand eye coordination as they grow up. One of the biggest disadvantages of computer gaming is the amount of time which youngsters spend watching a screen and hurting their eyes. This is why most of the children at a very young age have to put on spectacles and this is not good. More than this, children tend to skip their meals because of continuously playing games. This is harmful for their health, mind and eyes and they give lesser time to their school works (Ritterfeld, U., Cody, M., & Vorderer, P. (Eds.). (2009).

Many of the video games also present obscene scenes which intrigue the children curiosity and they tend to be swayed away by these foul messages. Hence, we can say that computer games can be boon a well as harmful for our young and tender children but then if monitored properly and with restricted game time can ensure that we extract maximum out of computer and video games and the effect is positive on health (Dorman, 1997).
