Answer:

Introduction:

In the 21st century, there is a generational gap that is experienced in the society. The young generation has a particular of handling issues as compared to generations of the parents. It is expected that with time ideological changes takes place which may be perceived differently in the community. Some matters were considered unacceptable in the traditional days, but today they are being viewed as normality due to the changes in perception as well as exposure in the society. Evolution in the governance of the corporations as well as the civilization contributes to the generational gap that is experienced in the society. The young generation is behaving differently as compared to the way their parents used to behave and handle issues during their times as youths (Hopkins & Pain, 2007). Various factors have contributed to the change in the ways of behaving and handling of issues in the society. In this piece of work, the discussion will be based on comparing the way of living of the youths and that of their parents and what factors are contributing to the generational differences

One of the primary factors that are contributing to the generational gap between the youths and their parents is advancements in the formal education. Majority of the youths in the 21st century have gone through high levels of educational ranking which results to high reasoning capabilities among the youths. Education does not only influence the behavior of an individual but also reasoning capability of an individual due to exposure to both practical and theoretical experiences of various scholars and how they used to behave (Glass, 2007). In the era of the youth's parents, there was a dependence of the traditional education which was glued to personal experience as well age. Majority of the parents could not go through the education system offered in the modern day which implies that various aspects have been introduced in the course of learning. Also, during the parents' time, there are various levels of education that could not be reached, but this has been made possible in the modern society. The advancements are as a result of the research that carried out involving local as well as global issues. The youths at the end of the day become more educated than the parents which result in superiority complexity between the two groups translating to a generational gap.

Another factor that has contributed significantly to the generational gap is the emergence of technology that is much experienced by the youths. Technology is an evolving element in the society which is an aspect of time. The youths are becoming more technologically exposed than their parents (Wey Smola & Sutton, 2002). The exposure can be viewed from various perspectives one being the aspects of affordability. Majority of the parents are busy taking care of the children which reduces the number of resources that be used in technological innovations. Through connectivity using social media platforms, the youths are exposed to various cultures from different parts of the world. This exposure advances their learning, and in the course of implementing technological aspects, the teenagers differ ideologically with the parents (Wyn & Woodman, 2006). This results in generational differences.

From the above comparisons, it is evident that there is a generational difference between the youths and their parents. Education and technology are the significant contributions to the generational difference. The youths seem to be more advanced than their parents and superiority complex is experienced.
