The existing telehealth system has the significant criteria that provided business advantages, but there exist few problems with the system. The patients need to install the hardware like a video camera, electronic blood pressure measuring instrument and other to attach to the computers or tablets (O’Neil et al., 2014, p-166). The elderly people lack the knowledge and skills of new technology and even set the hardware equipment. Another problem in the telehealth system is the lack of efficient UI for the elderly people to use (Lisetti et al., 2013, p-251). Moreover, the system allows a long time health monitoring but fails to provide real-time and immediate health assistance to the elderly.

Capabilities

The telehealth system for monitoring the health of the patient's various weaknesses but the capabilities of the systems cannot be ignored. The existing telehealth system is one of the pioneers in online healthcare assistance that provided online conferencing features as well as the expert assistance in setting up the hardware component of the system (ICP telehealth solution, 2016, p-3). With the use f the telehealth system, the user can easily monitor the health conditions for a long time.

The new system will be developed with an enhanced user interface and leverage the loud technology. Leveraging the cloud technology will allow the users to access the system from any devices. The developed system user interface will integrate the entire medical assistance module in a single page with easy navigations and easy layout (Kleinschmidt, & Winnik, 2012, p-217). Furthermore, since the new e-health system is aimed at the rural and remote locations of New South Wales, the cloud implementation will provide location independence to information and service of medical assistance. In addition to that, the cloud server will furnish robust security to the user information and personal data saved in the system (Saleh et al., 2015, p-285).

Benefits

The benefits of the online healthcare system are as follows:

  • The healthcare services and assistance can be tailored according to the need of the patients;
  • The hardware component of the system for testing and monitoring blood pressure, weight, and camera for initiating video conferencing;
  • Touch screen tablets provide easy interaction between the system and user;

The new system with the implementation of cloud technology will provide easy access to the medical assistance system from any device (Lopez et al., 2015, p-21). Since the system is aimed at the elderly, staying at the remote places, the cloud technology will provide platform independence applications. The easy user interface of the tablet and user will allow the elderly persons to access and efficiently use the system on their own.

Conclusion

The existing system has been review with focusing on the different problems and areas of improvements. The implementation of the cloud technology and even developing a mobile application will allow the patients are residing in the remote areas to gain medical access from a wide range of devices. The addition of real-time medical assistance feature and consulting a medical expert instantaneously will improve the efficiency and functionality of the application. Therefore, improving the tablet computer interactions for the elderly patients will improve the functionality. This will benefit the stakeholders of the telehealth system to achieve market success and improvement.
