How should I prepare for my assessment?
The assessment will be assessing the learning outcomes for the module. Please refer to the revision slides which discusses the lectures the exam will cover and also practice exam questions.
You will be given access to 6 exam essay-style question(s), 3 in section A and 3 in section B. These will be released on the day of the exam, for a 24-hour period on (6th May) and you will be required to answer ONE from section A and ONE from section B. The 24-hour period is to allow for students in different time zones. Although we cannot limit how much time you spend on each question, we recommend spending no more than 2 hours working on this assessment in total and you are limited to 1000 words per question. You should complete and submit your work as a Word document. You should reference sources where appropriate, but there is no need to provide a reference list at the end of your submission.
Turnitin Plagiarism check
The Turnitin portal is provided so you can check your essay for plagiarism. This portal will close 2 hours before the deadline. Turnitin is NOT the essay assignment submission portal, it is ONLY for checking plagiarism.
Academic Misconduct
Please remember that all work submitted will be checked for evidence of plagiarism, collusion and contract cheating as usual, and any incidences of such will treated seriously and be subject to normal academic misconduct procedures. To ensure you understand plagiarism and collusion please see the information and video on the Psychology Programme module on Canvas See the module guide for links for further Academic Misconduct information.
Marking and moderation
This assessment will be subject to regulations regarding UH marking and moderation processes. All marks will be confirmed by the Board of Examiners in the normal manner. Marks will be released after the meetings of the Board of Examiners, in the normal manner. Students should use academic sources in essay-style exam answers and not non-academic internet sites.
Serious Adverse Circumstances and extension requests
An extension is not available for exam alternative assessments including timed or constrained (e.g. 24 hour) assessments. You may in some circumstances be able to apply for a deferral (see Serious Adverse Circumstances)
How will I submit my work?
Submission will be through Canvas under assignments. The submission portal will be set up by your module leader, who will provide any further details. Ensure you submit well in advance of the deadline. Late submissions will not be marked.
What if I have connection issues or other unforeseen problems during the 24 hours that the alternative assessment is available?
Your Module Leader will be online during normal UK office hours on the day of your assessment and you should contact them by email if you are experiencing any issues but as you have 24 hours to submit, you should not submit near the deadline. If you are outside the UK and in a different time zone, please email your Module Leader immediately and they will advise you. NB: Ensure you back up your work regularly while undertaking your alternative assessment.
Who should I contact if I have any general queries about alternative assessments?
Specific module-related alternative assessment queries should be directed to your Module Leader.
