The author then presents the western model of teaching which he terms as the Banking model, as the teacher deposits knowledge in the mind of students without making sure that students are learning and not and according to the author this model is not efficient. This model according to the author is also problematic as it suppresses the creativity of students and does not allow them to grow as students. The views of the author on knowledge are quite insightful and provide a new perspective on knowledge as he explains it as the process through which people can question the world and therefore knowledge is developing constantly. The baking model of teaching goes against knowledge as this model does not allow the development of new knowledge but is just about the transfer of existing knowledge. The problem-posing model as presented by the author is a better alternative to the banking model as it gives the students opportunities to question the world and in the process of questioning the students become more aware of them which are the main aim of education according to the author. The problem-posing model gives the students opportunities to learn new things about the world and themselves rather than memorising the already existing knowledge and should be adopted by educational institutes.
