The nursing is a noble profession through which nurses, who are the first point of contact with the patients to improve their physical heath as well as the mental health properly. In case of health care practice, the professional nurses play an important role as the supportive connector between the healthcare system and the patents (Daly & Jackson, 2020). The aim of this essay is to explore the nurse-patient relationship and the effective role of the professional nurses in Australian healthcare practice.
The professional nurses play an essential role as supportive connector between the healthcare system and the patents. This study mainly focuses on the relationship between registered nurses and the healthcare consumers, which directly associates with the effective role of professional nurses, the role of healthcare consumers or patients and different understanding of nurse-patient relationship that impacts on the quality of care in Australian healthcare system (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). In case of Australian healthcare system, the nurse-patient relationship depends on various understanding of caring between professional nurses and the healthcare consumers, which consists of psychological interventions, self-care strategies, medication adherence and nurse-patient satisfaction that provides health promotion and proper health information to educate patients and their families (Cusson et al., 2020).
According to the guidance of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), the effective role of the professional nurses improve the communication skills between patients and healthcare providers efficiently that helps to deliver proper professional information, healthcare knowledge, nursing training to Australian healthcare consumers (Ostaszkiewicz, Thompson & Watt, 2019). In many cases, it founds that the good nurse-consumer relationship decreases the patient’s complications, days of hospital stay that helps to improve the satisfaction and quality of this relationship.
However, in contrast, the participation of patients in decision-making is greater, so that a good nurse-patient relationship is conducted by the submissive role of patients. In case of health care practice, the role of nursing professionals’ highlights the relationship between registered nurses and the healthcare consumers has become primary concern, which is very significant and challenging in Australian healthcare system. The various types of understanding between professional nurses and the healthcare consumers concentrate on the quality of relationship, caring environment, and communication. The professional health care practitioners plays a very essential responsibility to recognise the actual medical condition of the patient and provides the psychological care and physical care to improve the mental and physical state of patient (Oldland et al., 2020).
In Australian healthcare system, it observes that professional healthcare providers directly ensure the supportive care of the critical patients and properly communicate with the families of the patient (O'Toole, 2020). As an integral part of health care system, professional healthcare providers help to cure an illness of the patients and to improve wellness of the patients. In case of Australian healthcare system, it also observes that the poor nurse-patient relationship destroys the patient’s anatomy and diminishes the quality of this caring relationship (Molina-Mula & Gallo-Estrada, 2020).
In some cases, it founds that some patient demands a lot of healthcare information for own decision-making that affects a good nurse-patient relationship. In case of Australian healthcare, it examines that professional care practitioners help to cure an illness of the patients and to improve wellness of the patients. However, in contrast, the good nurse-consumer relationship is accompanied by the resolution of doubts, closeness to patients, proper counselling, cordiality, cordiality, homely environment surrounding patients and friendly relation with patients that improves the public healthcare practice (Daly & Jackson, 2020).
On the other hand, the poor relationship associates with continuous conflicts, distancing towards consumers, limited communication, fragmented knowledge, non-appropriate care management, non-appropriate pain control and other factors. The nursing theories discuss about the effectiveness of nursing care practice to the healthcare consumers. The 6Cs theory of nursing consists of six strategies (care, compassion, courage, communication, competence and commitment), developed by Sister Simone Roach that helps to cure the chronic pain, distressing symptoms, mental stress and severe physical condition of the patients (Baillie, 2017). Apart from this factor, the registered nurses also develop a caring environment surrounding the healthcare consumers that helps to improve their critical medical condition through regular monitoring, team meeting and clinical discussion Therefore, the primary objective of professional nursing care providers is very significant that includes reducing discomfort, improving mood, decreasing pains, improving quality of life, reducing depression and anxiety to improve caring environment and quality of nurse-patient relationship.
From the above discussion, it concludes that the professional nurses play an important role as the supportive connector between the healthcare system and the patents. This essay has also provided a unique view about the different understanding of caring between professional nurses and the healthcare consumers concentrate on the quality of relationship, caring environment, and communication in Australian healthcare system. Therefore, the nurse-patient relationship associate with the effective role of professional nurses and healthcare consumers that impacts on the quality of care in Australian healthcare system
