 "Silent Spring" is an environmental-oriented book written by Rachel Carson. The book was written between 1907 and 1954 and was first published in 1962. Rachel Louise Carson is a renowned biologist in America. She is known for her numerous contributions to the environmental revolution through her writings on the natural history of the sea and environmental pollution. Carson participated in various studies in Zoology and marine biology and would go on to use her desire for writing to publish many of her works. She partnered with other environmental organizations in response to environmental matters and published several articles, journals, and periodicals for environmental sensitization. For instance, the Audubon Naturalist Society, an environmental organization, partnered with Rachel to collect proof of environmental damage from pesticide sprays in agricultural practices for four years. The "Silent Spring" was inspired by the findings and outcome of her research with the Audubon Naturalist Society. As a result of her relentless campaign against toxic chemicals in agricultural activities, the use of several pesticides was banned in the US. President Jimmy Carter recognized Rachel's efforts and contributions towards a sustainable environment and awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
