The primary health care basically represents the accessible and affordable services that are aimed at meeting the health care requirements of the individuals and families, who are to be served. According to Maaks et al. (2019), the Paediatric primary health care for the children and adolescents represent the family centred care approach and incorporating various resources, strengths and strategies to improve the care delivery practices and clinical practices, thus, improve the health and wellbeing of the children and adolescents. Considering my role as a nurse practitioner, specialised in providing paediatric primary care services to the children and adolescents, my main duties are based on my skills related to emergency care services and to deal with acute health concerns among the children. Few of the strengths that allow transformation from a registered nurse to a nurse practitioner are the ability to listen attentively to my mentors and leaders, team working ability and good knowledge and experience while handling heart and vascular patients (Beck et al., 2016). Being a good listener, I have managed to acquire all the necessary information and knowledge regarding the paediatric primary health care, as it remains an emergency to take care of the children, as their health and wellbeing are the topmost attributes. It allowed me to understand how the children and adolescents must be treated with proper supervision by doctors while working with other team members gradually made me gain trust on them. This enabled coordination and better team work to deliver a better performance. As a nurse practitioner, I do have some weaknesses as well such as I have never been habituated to work with the baby, kids or children. This could be a major weakness that could hinder my performance while carrying out my duties in the Paediatric primary health care Unit.

My career goals are to improve my position as a successful nurse practitioner and work in the urgent care or general family practices. I also aim to open up new practices in the future by allowing myself to succeed in my roles considering the paediatric primary health care. It would be important for to attend training sessions associated with the various aspects of medical care for children and adolescents. It could be coupled with the interest in commitment towards the health care of infants, children and adolescents properly (Conn et al., 2018). Once I start carrying out practical work, I would gradually learn to educate the paediatric patients and even their families about the preventive care measures and even provide referrals to the external health care providers, I case of requirements for intensive and specialised care. Cultural barriers are common and thus, for me, it is important to remain aware of the diverse culture and healing practices while even make them understood through a common language to prevent any medication errors (Maaks et al., 2019). I would also like to pursue the Master’s degree in Science in Nursing program or even the Master’s certificate program in paediatric primary care nursing. For me, this opportunity could be a rewarding arena in my professional career, thus, allow me to gradually interact with children and ensure that they develop into physically and mentally healthy adults. All these strengths would allow me to address the patients about the physical, behavioural and emotional challenges, thus lay foundation for health and wellness at an early stage (Kerker et al., 2016).
