TLHE718 Global Citizenship and Equity in Education

Global Citizenship and Equity portfolio is given to the students to make them understand about the global citizenship so that they can play the roles of advocates and participate to end the injustice and inequity for the betterment of the society. Having the knowledge of the global citizenship, students acquire the knowledge of values, attitudes and beliefs that enhances the creativity, transformation, justice, human rights and sustainable development of the world that we all live in (Yusof, et al., 2019).   This portfolio helps the student in being aware of what is going on in the world and also makes them connected with other people across the globe in all aspects: economically, politically, socially and environmentally. This makes them affectionate towards each other and the environment. It makes them think critically towards every action that they take and how it might affect someone. It makes them a responsible citizen of the society who should come forward to eliminate the injustice of this world (Janmaimool & Khajohnmanee, 2020).

As a college graduate, I can demonstrate global citizenship in a small but effective way that can actually impact the society and change it for good. For this, I have to constantly keep my interest in the social issues that are happening all around the world. I can support by community by thinking globally. I should build by own understanding and ideas of the events that are happening in the world. I should think of the actions that can benefit my society. For example, donating blood is a way by which I can help others and the society. I can also save a life by doing so. I can support the charities and the non-government organizations and should focus on issues such as racial discrimination, donating to food banks, Salvation Army and so on. I can take my learning and knowledge to the outside world and get involved in the communities at local, national and international levels. I should always be ready to voice my opinions.

The skills that I have acquired from the development of GCE portfolio that can help me in my future interviews and career are that I have developed different perspectives about our society. It has helped me to have knowledge about the current issues that are very critical for the world. It has improved my communication skills at the global level. It has made me understand my responsibilities as the global citizen of the world. It has made me improve my critical thinking to solve any issue. It has also improved my leadership skills. It has also made be capable of working in an environment which is full of diverse people.
