Tale Of Sensation In Poe

We find literature in several genres but the elements of gothic can be considered as a feeling of misery, desolation, ghostly and ultimately an abject fear that can be aroused in an author. Edgar Allan Poe has provided a perfect example of gothic literature through tales of sensation in “ The Black Cat” and “Tell-Tale Heart”.

Poe in “The Black Cat” has been an exceptional example of Gothic fiction. The strange figure, an apparition of gigantic cat appearing on wall are some of the crucial symptoms of gothic essence. Poe has scared the readers through unpredictability, rage-driven unreliability. Additionally, the pace of the story has kept the reader in lasting suspense with presence of several omens. “The Black Cat” has remained to be one of the most mystifying and horrifying stories as narrator expresses and recounts macabre events prior to the imminent execution. Poe has vividly portrayed components and evil side of human nature or madness within gothic genre.

Poe has done an exceptional job through classic element in gothic literature for display how man’s guilt could manifest itself through hallucination and lead towards confession.
