Juvenile delinquency is the most compelling topic in this course as it highlights the illegal participation by minors in crimes or offences under the age of 18 years. The minors are involved in antisocial activity and they violate law, it is referred as juvenile delinquency. A child who commits crime below the age of 18 years drives the pathway to adult crime during their transition from childhood to adulthood. Crimes performed by minors are a serious issue as crimes committed by them hurt the sentiments of the child and society as a whole. Therefore, this topic was compelling to read and gather evidence based literature on it (Nisar et al., 2015).

Participation in discussion is greatly helpful as students can reflect on their understanding through reviewing, reflection and collecting feedback on what they have learned in the subject matter. Discussion boards and posts are very beneficial as it provides an opportunity to students to communicate with peers as well as with instructor. Moreover, discussion also helps to review the viewpoints of others on particular topic and gather information from others that help one in understanding subject matter better. Discussion board approach is help to gain efficient and yielded information on the subject matter and review’s one’s understanding of whatever is taught during the course (Forsberg et al., 2015). When one get involved in discussions, it helps to share one’s knowledge, ideas and thoughts with others and understand the topics in-depth and current issues in one’s academics. There is nothing as such that need to get cleared about the topic, juvenile delinquency.  It also helps to emphasize on the current trends regarding the topic and get learning from instructor and also peers on many subjects (Tan, 2016). Therefore, discussion serves as an important medium for getting better understanding of course and prepare for the future.

To yield additional information regarding any topic or subject matter, discussion boards are helpful. After undertaking the course, I realized that there were areas of improvement, weaknesses and strengths. I liked the course that covers many significant topics like juvenile delinquency. I gained the research skills that helped me to have a proper understanding of particular topic or subject matter and inculcated the habit of heavy reading, especially journals and scholarly articles that met the requirements of the topic. However, I faced some problem regarding referencing and in-text citations and need further practice on understanding the different referencing styles and citations. The areas of improvement involve working on different referencing styles and moreover, I need to practice on the proper academic writing style so that ideas are clearly and logically stated.
