Introduction

The Purpose of this paper is to discuss the different types of Health Care provided in Canada which are mainly divided into public and private Healthcare. This paper briefly analyses both the kinds of Health Care provided within the country by discussing their benefits and detriment. Public Health Care facilities are used more in Canada as compared to private Healthcare facilities. It has been argued by Healthcaretomorrow.ca (2014) that Public Health Care is more effective as compared to private Healthcare. On the other hand it has been argued by Scott-Carson (2014) that private Healthcare has more benefits as compared to public health care. This paper analyses the different arguments made both in favour and against of the healthcare systems in the country. The thesis statement of this paper is that private health care is better than public health care.

Argument construction and argument analysis: Public Health Care vs private Healthcare

As stated by Healthcaretomorrow.ca (2014) there are various benefits of using public health care in Canada. When it comes to public Healthcare the administrative cost is very low. There is very little spending of money towards distinguishing between the undeserving and the deserving and chasing those who have not paid. Efficient and need based accessibility is provided through the public health care system. In this form of system democratic and collective decision making is possible and practiced. In addition wages and jobs in public sector are better as compared to the private sector and it has an overwhelming female force. Large scale innovation is also only made possible in public Healthcare system such as laser, cataract surgery and antibiotics.

Arguments in favour of private Healthcare

private Healthcare people do not have to face the problem of waitlist for doctors and they can choose the time when they want to be treated. Thus a person can more imminently schedule an appointment with a private doctor according to his needs. In addition people are provided a wide range of choice in relation to the various specialist and Hospital available in the private sector as compared to the public sector. People always want to consult a person who has a good reputation in a certain area of medicine. In private health care system people often get done on room and thus the elements of privacy are also ensured. However it has been argued by Mazzucato (2016) that at some point private sector Healthcare discriminate against those who have a public insurance.

Own argument

On one hand public Healthcare system is cost effective and on the other hand it is a time consuming process. When it comes to health get in the private Healthcare system although the system is not as much cost effective as public Healthcare it provides timely treatment to the patients and they do not have to be subjected to wait list (Mossialos et al., 2014). When a person is looking for Healthcare he wants the best possible treatment available and thus it can be rightly concluded that the best treatment is provided by specialist in the private Healthcare system.

Conclusion

From the above discussion it can be concluded that there are various advantages and disadvantages with both the public and the private Healthcare systems are subjected to within Canada. However private health care is better than public health care.
