Transport is the act of moving from one place to another. It can include any ship, vehicle and other types of modes of transportation (Audrey, Leonards and Damen, 2017). In today’s developing environment, the mode of transportation has been changed from the traditional ones. People tends to move with the help of vehicles more in spite of waling or cycling to save time. This report is focusing on the ways to get people to walk and cycle more. The analysis of the behaviour of the target is also discussed with help of suitable theory. The interventions required to make the try effective along with the gaps is analysed.
Transport plays a significant role in the time saving which helps in increasing working hours and the economy. Although, there are various advantages of using the transportation but some disadvantages are also present which impacts on the personal and environmental areas. People tends to use transport frequently as it plays a significant ole in their life cycle. The use of transportation has negative impact on the physical health and the environment also (Budd and Ison, 2020). Physical work impacts by using the motor vehicles to travel from one place to another. Being inactive can increase the chances of getting serious diseases related to heart, lungs, fitness or mental health.
A study shows that the use of cycling and waling more can reduce the chances of diseases such as heart and circulatory by 35% and increases the lifespan by 30%. The doctors recommend that the adults must intake 2.5 hours per week to stay fit in all the areas of the physics. Cycling and waling also keeps the body active and reduces the extra weight to remain healthy in the life. In addition to that, several environmental impacts are also present which hurts the natural aspects of the earth. The increasing use of petrol diesel vehicles increases the carbon dioxide in the surroundings which plays a negative role in the health and natural cycle also. By walking and cycling, it is possible to reduce the negative impacts of CO2 in the environment and protecting it. In addition to these several benefits of using the cycle and walling, people are not intended to use and implement such activities in the life (Cairns, 2017). The main problem behind is that people need to reach from one place to another quickly and faster.
Every problem has opportunity with it also. It is having been a great opportunity to engage people to walk and cycle more. This will not only help them to reduce the chances of getting any disease but also helps the environment. In addition to that, this opportunity will also flourish an independent industry to reduce the carbon emission and providing effective solution for the people.
In present scenario, it has been found that people hardly have a time to focus towards their health and the reason behind it is their busy schedule. Considering this particular factor, it will be important to set the target behaviour for human being in order to bring changes to their daily life. As this file majorly focuses towards modifying transport behaviour so the target behaviour will be “Get a greater number of people to walk and cycle”. It is one of the target behaviours which will be majorly analysed but at the same time, there will be number of challenging situations which needs to be deal in an effective manner (Chatterjee, 2019). Among different challenges some of them will related with time management as people are unable to manage their time schedule. Secondly, the traffic in many of the city is quite high due to which it is not an easy task to bring awareness among the people towards cycle and walking. Although, number of other challenges might be there but among those challenges, mentioned above both challenges will be the one which needs to be focused the most. It is because if an appropriate solution can be determined for these above-mentioned challenges then it might become an easy to enhance the involvement of people towards cycling and walking.
In simple words, there are different situations or obstacles which do occurs while performing any of the task but it is necessary to find the possible ways to deal with the situation so that effective result can be obtained. Considering the importance of environment and health of a people, it will be necessary to conduct some of the awareness program for the people. This program will relate with the importance of cycle and walk in human life. But even this is also a challenging situation to bring awareness among the people because of lack of time and considering this aspect, it will be important to divide different team while will chose offices, school/colleges to conduct such awareness program on a regular interval. On the other side, while responding to the challenges, it will be important to guide each of the people that how they can manage their time because that will play the most significant role in order to perform the task in an effective manner (Claris, 2019).
Also, the support of people is equally important because if they themselves are not willing to focus towards their health and environment then it will not be possible to bring positive changes. When any of these changes are needed to be brought, there is needed to cover all of the aspect because if any of the mistake happens then whole of the idea and project may get affected. In the same manner, if people show their willingness towards cycling and walking but due to this particular factor, they face the problem in their daily routine then their interest might certainly end. Even there are some of the circumstances where injury might take place while walking and cycling so that is also the area which can certainly end the efforts of people which they are trying to place since a long period.
It is equally important to identify the target group where any of the initiatives are being taken. It is because they are the one who allows to ensure that goals are being accomplished as per the planning (Davis, 2020). Here, the target group will be from the age group of 20-60 years and among them mainly those people will be target who has the issue with their body weight. This is the age group where importance of health and environment needs to be understood the most. In addition, those people will be also targeting who have excess amount of fat because cycling and walking can become the perfect solution for them in order to overcome the problem. In order to reach these group of people, it will be necessary to connect with maximum number of organisations along with school/colleges.
These can be the place where they can be easily found and even proper guidance can be given to them. The chosen group can be the effective one because they are the one who wants to work upon their health due to which introduction of cycling and walking can be the effective one for attaining their goals (de Haas, Faber and Hamersma, 2020). Even if there will be a requirement of brining changes to any of the idea or plan then in that respective situation, these can be the one who can easily adopt the situation because of health segment where they want to work on a continuous basis.
Here, setting of objectives will play the vital role in bringing the people towards walking and cycling. The main objective will be towards the marathon and latest equipment of cycle which includes charging system as well. Here, Marathon will provide the opportunity to the each of the people to take participation in walking or running which will be conducted on a week off. On the other side cycling, battery will be used in cycle which will allow the people to use battery power if they are in hurry to reach any of the destination. This will have multiple number of advantages such as people will allow themselves to improve their health and secondly, they will have the option where they can easily save the environment (De Vos, 2018). This can be the perfect option to deal with the opportunity which has been identified. In order to attain the objectives, some of the question has been answered for clearing out the other doubt that might arise among different people.
This behaviour needs to be performed by each of people from the age group of 20 to 60 years but specially, it should be focused that people who have excess amount of weight should majorly focus on it.What does the person need to do differently to achieve the desired change?
Whenever any of the changes are to be done in the life of a person, they are needed to cover different aspect but it is equally important for them to ensure that they are able to manage their time. It is needed because this is the only way through which they can bring focus more towards cycling and walking. Instead of vehicle, they should either prefer walking or cycling to reach the premisses of office or college. This will be the main thing which needs to be changed for attaining the targets. When will they do it?
Everything needs to be pre-planned and should be performed in an systematic manner. In order to do walking or running week off will be the great option where maximum number of people can take part together (De Vos, 2020). On the other side, cycling should be done on a daily basis before and after the office and college hours.
The marathon will be conducted on week off where traffic seems to be low and the distance will be also less as running complete marathon without proper training can create problem in muscle. While talking about cycling, it has been found that in most of the places, specific path is prepared on a road side for riding cycle which means people will have the option to ride cycle on a cycle track.
It is essential to have a fix pattern of routine to perform any of the task because it is the only way through which any of the task can be performed. Discussing about marathon, it should be done on a weekly basis whereas cycling should be done on a regular basis where minimum of 5 km ride should be taken by the person for effective results (Fotios, Uttley and Fox, 2019).
It is needed to identify for the people that with whom they are willing to perform their physical fitness program to ensure that they stay healthy. Here, students can join the program with their friends whereas the person who works within the premisses of office, they should come with their colleagues.
There are four areas where the diversified gaps are identified. Although, there are various options that have bene discussed earlier but these not proved to be effective as the issues were not resolved. The main gap of allowing the use of cycling and walking are discussed below:
Lack of awareness: There are various cycling track and walking areas but these areas were not attached so that the cyclist and the walking person can reach to their desired location. This demotivates them to go that area and use that walking track. This has required the awareness to the people in the country to use such platforms (Gao, 2017). The riders were not so ware about the walking tracks and therefore they were not able to use them. The strengths of that waling platform and the cycling track is that the agencies have allowed the people to use them but the people were not ware about such tracks. This has reduced the use of such tracks according to the requirements.
Lack of technological development: Cycles are the traditional travelling medium for each and every person. There is no technological development in this medium which can attract the people to use it. The main drawback of this platform is that it takes a lot of time to travel from one place to another but the main advantage of this is that it helps the person to keep active and reduces the chances of getting any disease. The cycle needs to be advanced in the technology which can help the person to walk and use the traditional approaches also.
Lack of connectivity: The person who requires to move from one place to another needs to have some connectivity roads and areas which can help them directly to reach towards their destination (Keall, 2018). The main drawback in this situation is that the agencies have not developed the roads or the dedicated area of the cycling track and the waking track. This has mad impossible for the persons to reach towards their destination effectively and efficiently.
Lack of health consciousness: The people are unaware about the heath consciousness of using the cycle and the walking tacks that is the use of these tracks were not so useful for them. The agencies need to work on the situations particularly to develop such aspects and do what was the desire of the users. This has impacted the persons to perform the actions which could help them in using the cycles and walking tracks.
Following are the actions which can help in getting the interventions to achieve the objective.
Lack of awareness: The government agencies and the local NGOs should take the responsibility in proving awareness in the users to use the desired outcomes. This will help them in motivating the people to use the cycles and the walking tracks effectively.
Lack of technological development: Technology plays an important role in making any new intervention successful. The organizations must use the latest technology so that it will help to resolve the issues to use the bicycles (Phoenix and Bell, 2019). The time taken to travel from one place to another needs to be reduced with the help of battery-operated bicycles so that it will motivate the people to use bicycles and walking tracks.
Lack of connectivity: The connectivity of the walking and cycle tracks must be proper so that it will not take too much time from going one place to another.
Lack of health consciousness: The people must be health conscious which can help them to use the bicycle and the walking tracks effectively.
In this report, it can be concluded that the use of bicycle and the walking tracks is important in maintaining the health and environment. Although, the attempts to make this step possible is not effective which needs to be resolved effectively so as to gain the desired results. The issues must be resolved by the agencies locally so that it will help the people to use cycle and walking tracks.
