Organizational structure is defined as the particular order in which the power is distributed with in an business (Jonathan,2018). The paper aims to discuss the importance of organizational structure e context of a work place experience.

Upon having joined a company as the manager of the same, I realised that the work place environment as well as the productivity of the organization was being disrupted owing to the absence of a proper structure with in the same. Thus, with the help of the human resources department as well as the authorities of the business, I aimed to introduce structure with in the business in order to create a direction that would determine the work flow of the organization. Organizational structure provides guidance to all employees by laying out the official reporting relationships that govern the workflow of the company (Bobkov et al., 2019).  But doing so was not an easy task and requires proper planning. The absence of any organizational structure made in extremely difficult to sustain an independent team with in the work place. Further more, the teams were unable to manage or deliver a particular task owing to the absence of proper division of the work load. But before resolving this problem with in my work place, I had to determine the specific structure that I wanted to implement in this case.

Organizational structure is of different types and the needs to analysed in order to find a perfect fit for each business. The major types of organizational structure are as follows (Winnubst,2019):

• Vertical structure: This indicates a power distribution where all employees of the organization follow the leader of the same.
• Horizontal structure: This indicates that each team of with in the business functions as an unit and one employee can not be a part of two teams.
• Functional structure: This indicates that the organization is divided into a certain number of teams based on its functions.
• Product divisional structure: This type of structure is seen is business that are product centric and each sector with in the business can produce and sell particular products independently.
• Geographic divisional structure: This type of organizational structure is mainly seen in multi national organisations and in these cases, teams are formed based on the geographic location of the employees.
• Matrix structure: In these cases, each unit of the organization works as an independent part of the same.
• Combinational structure: It is a mixture of more than one type of organizational structure.

However, applying one random structure from this list will not any company in the least. Before proceeding to restructure the company at first the right structure for the same should be identified. After having carried out in depth research in this area, I concluded that the company that I worked in requires a vertical structure. Next, the process of restructuring should be paced as a sudden change might disrupt the work flow of the organization. Once implemented, this particular power structure should be followed by all employees working in this organization.
