Reflection on Personal experience

Building of connections, a new model of changing the narrative between the students and the UC services gave me an opportunity and a chance to reflect and learn more about myself as an individual, as an aspiring professional, developing and understanding more on my strengths and weaknesses as well envisioning more on my the direction and the trajectory of my career path. Through my personal experiences, I was able to understand the person I am, the in-build personal character as well as personal traits relating to my field of study as well as the general life. Hard work and determination capabilities is what I learned about myself, having to research, identify, analyse the various aspects affecting the connection between the students and UC required hard work, seriousness and determination. It also enabled me to learn on how to co-exist within the university environment as well as with the students and administration in service delivery. Spirited assessment of well-being revealed the person within me, a professional to come, a person believing in self determination for the achievement, fulfilment as well as attaining the objective or a set target.

The project gave me a chance to identify my personal strengths and weaknesses as a professional. First, let me mention on my ability to determine the independent variables with an objective to predict on the students’ achievement and attainment of the set goals and objectives, which are related to the measure of satisfaction by the students. Having to identify, through analysis on relations between academic achievement and health practises at Canberra; gives me a sense of self satisfaction, I consider this a positive strength in my professional line. My ability to use sub-conscious mind in determining the relationship between health programmes and academic attainment through investigation opened my mind on the future expectations in my line of duty as a professional, that thorough investigation and research is key in attainment of the set goals and objectives. Personal ability in academic subjective gauging on students’ performance, identification of their subjective academic ideas gives a connection and a relationship between personal well being on health and academic achievement. Therefore, using personal knowledge and ability in discerning issues is a positive strength in my professional life and line of duty.

Employment opportunities are one main and key aspect that every freshly graduated individual think. Where, how and who to employ them are the questions arising. Indeed, it is true that every fresh graduand thinks of employment, the project gave me a proper self reflection opportunity on the same. Identifying the gaps in the employment world is key when planning for a job opportunity, the project has enabled me to identify that the desire for success and achievement is dependent on the skill and preparedness of an individual, as well as the ability to work smart and professionally. To better chances of employment, personal development and progress is key, it is not enough to rely on one’s degree for the employment, the business and employment world is dynamic and change is always inevitable, in my personal development therefore, I will ensure that I progress and advance my skills further to enhance my profile for employability purposes.

Furthermore, the project has helped me understand how to work as a team as well developing good working relationship between team members and the administration is vital for any success to be achieved. Employing the spirit of teamwork makes work easier; identification of problems as well as finding of the solutions to the same problems is well achievable through teamwork. Under teamwork, sharing of tasks is a portion that leads to less work given, this enables and individual to work thoroughly on a given task, which translates to better results and quick achievement of the set target or problem solving.

Analysis on personal experiences

One of the main positive aspects that came out in the process of project work was on students’ ideas in help search and messaging of information in the UC. During the process and progress of research work, it came to my knowledge through my association with the students that information distribution and search by students was one main positive area that aids in acquiring and receiving of information through messaging and searching through online platforms. I found out that modes of communication commonly used is the notice boards and the university’s website, use of notice boards is unreliable as not all students will receive the information at the right time.

Task

One expectation from the administration would be the resources and time frame for the said proposal to be achieved. This was the main challenge, time factor and the resources as well as its feasibility, durability and efficiency of the system. After thorough analysis of the proposal, it was found out that system would work well if it could be integrated with the already existing online platform through the students’ portal. Approach to the concerned party, the administration was the next step to be undertaken.

Action

Having identified messaging and searching as a key component of connection between the student community and UC service, it was my role to connect both entities through proposal submission to the University administration with a request of creating an online platform, through student portal account. Its creation would enable both the UC service administrators and the student community to engage one another through an online platform in looking for information, inquires or seeking general information between the concerned parties.

Creation of the website extension therefore required mobilization of the resources and setting achievable time frame, with the willingness from the administration, work was undertaken to create the extension that would be amalgamated with the student’s and the administrators’ portal.

Results

An outcome of the result was a positive response from the system interface as well as ease of communication on the online portal platform. Trial work was done and it was found out to be an effective means of communication connecting the student community and the UC services. The university was so grateful on the idea and promised to work on it properly so as to be integrated with the portal system before its official use.

The above experienced gave me a sense of strong believe in myself as well as confidence to keep doing more on the same direction. The second experience on the project was a negative one on my side as discussed below.

Second part of the analysis gave a negative experience as it exceeded my expectations on one aspect whereby i was to investigate and understand on ways and measures to be undertaken in raising better and proper awareness on the existing services.
