Inelastic Collision

A collision between two cars is only considered to be an inelastic collision if the cars collide but do not stick together. The colliding force will indicate the final position of the two cars. The velocities and the weights of the cars will determine the position where the cars will land. This is because they velocities and mass influence the momentum. The final velocities of the cars will determine the momentum of the two cars assuming that their masses remain the same after collision.

The above equation will apply. The cars will go to a nearby distance if the velocity is small and will go further if the velocity is large. If the cars had similar masses but had different momentums, the final momentum would be distributed equally among the two cars.

Formulating one safety measure to ensure that the impact of the collision of the two cars is decreased is to ensure that the cars have larger masses, by automotive industries manufacturing cars using strong bodies like metals.this woul mean that they will acquire a lower final velocity after collision. When you increase the magnitudes of the masses of the two cars a higher velocity will not have a larger impact on the total momentum as that of the case if the two cars had a smaller magnitude of. This stipulates that increasing the magnitude of the masses of the two cars will still result in collision but the final velocities would be lower and hence the cars will not go very far after collision and this could help save lives.
