Sociology

In sociology, we do learn more regarding social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. Also we also learn the relationships and interaction of human beings in the society. The way people live together, earn their living and their activities are also studied in sociology.

Sociology and culture

The study of sociology in culture is very important. Different people from different regions have different forms of culture. This starts from their mode of dressing, the kind of food they take, their different forms of rites of passage from childhood to adulthood. Culture in sociology is known to protect the moral standards of the society through educating the young generations on the right and best way to follow so that the young boys and girls nay grow up been responsible adults. Culture is always the backbone of every community. This informal education concerning the culture is taught by the elderly in the community. The teach us on the duties and responsibilities of ladies and men in the society. Also marriage is also part of the culture. There some places that allow polygamy while others do not. Also on culture, young boys are taught on how to remain protective to the society that they belong to. Additionally, sociology perceives culture as the languages, customs, beliefs, rules and arts and memories developed by members of all social groups that make their social environment meaningful.  Different communities have different forms of culture starting from their language. Culture in sociology is diverse in regard to social life. There are also people in the society who have different opinions on religions. Therefore, there are different dominions on how things came into existence in different societies. Traditionally people worshipped their own gods in different places like shrines, temples. Today things are changing with the aspect of western culture that is revolving all the continents.

Sociology and media

The media is a key function in the society. The media is used to reflect on the different characters we have in the society. For instance, the media portrays some aspects in the gender inequality. It tries to show that there are specific tasks that can be done best compared to the other. For example, the media portrays that hard tasks are only preserved for men and female gender cannot do. It underrates the female gender in such tasks. The media shows that in the society we live only male students can pursue hard courses in educational career of which is not career. This is just a perception that is true since majority are male. For example, in a class of hard courses like engineering and related courses, there are few ladies compared to male. This should not be a way to discourage the female students but the media should be encouraging to those students and show them that nothing is impossible and we are all equal in the society. On the other hand, the media gives the male gender a lot of powers and control. This tries to show that the male is the one who can make good leaders of which is not true. Ladies today are known even to make quality leaders even at national and international levels. It is always good for the media to portray positivity of the society for most people belief a lot in the media for the media is the mirror of the society and reflects the activities of the society.

Sociology and work, poverty and welfare

In the society, there are different levels of wealth. This depends on the type of work one does. There are those who are of a high social class and others are of medium class and others are poor. The difference may emerge due to different in education levels and also skills. There are those who are best qualified in well-paying jobs that keep them live in a high social class life. There those who receive medium pay to sustain their livelihoods. Additionally, in the society there are the less fortunate who struggle a lot for them to survive. Therefore, the rich in the society form the higher class. In most cases the higher class in the society is known to govern for the perception that wealth is power by most people in the society. Therefore, the rich continue to be rich and the poor continue to be poor. The kind of work is determined by the level of skills to deliver and this is facilitated by advancing skills through education and research. The rich continue to dominate since they can afford since thy have the required resources.
