Career professional development plan

Plan 

After receiving my engineering degree, I intend to work at a construction company as an entry-level professional. I'd like to join the organization as a trainee because I function as a mechanical engineer. My area of the expertise is mechanical and still I want to venture into the field of the construction as there are many mechanical elements in the field that have sparked my interest. The construction field has huge potential to integrate the new machinery in their proceedings and I would want to be a  part of the engineering team to fulfill that. My first work obligation will be to manage building projects. I'd like to put my talent and skills to good use, as they are critical to my future success. I am very competent at technical parts of business procedures because I come from the engineering background. I am also skilled in operating mechanical devices, which are an integral aspect of the construction industry's business process. I am excited to put the competencies specified by the engineers in Australia into my very own professional practice.

Part (1)

Short term goals 

Learning the job responsibilities

I am also planning to achieve excellence in my communication skills. After doing the SWOT analysis, I found that I am lacking behind in communicating various things which is the key of achieving success in my profession. I feel that along with fulfilling my job responsibilities, I should also work upon improving my weaknesses so that I can get promotion in my job ( competencies 8, 13)

Becoming independent

Earning a significant money and achieving excellence is my short-term objective because it is necessary for the long-term success in the career. I realize that many factors are associated with achieving success in the profession. I need to work hard for receiving better feedbacks from my seniors. ( competencies 17, 10,)

Gaining the practical experience

I am looking forward to apply all the theoretical knowledge that I have gathered through the years of educational training into the practical application. I will try to understand and research much as I can about the field and then get the  work  experience ( competencies 2, 4, 20)  

Learning about the relevant knowledge

I want to enhance my knowledge by learning new things. I observed that I am very good at learning. I can even learn from my work process. Dealing with different types of customers and colleagues is the part of my profession. (Competencies 1, 2, 3, 4)

Integrating effective communication practices

I learnt about working with the people of diversified culture. Effective communication and understandings play a very important role in achieving better level of communication in the business (RL Silaban, 2021). ( competencies 7, 8 ,13)

Improving my leadership skills 

The goal of the mid-term strategy is to achieve a high level of leadership skills. Actually, I've always been a goal-oriented individual. In my career, I've always aspired to reach a greater level. I learnt that while there is no substitute for hard work, I should nonetheless focus on my weak areas. Aside from that, I should keep myself up to date on the current approaches that assist professionals in producing better work. New strategies have been developed in recent years that are incredibly beneficial in obtaining work success. These methods are also beneficial for increasing work efficiency. (RL Silaban, 2021). (competencies 7, 8, 12, 14, 18)

Mid-term goals 

Self actualization

After taking entry in a construction company, I would like to get promotion so that I can work as a senior engineer in the company. However, I know it very well that getting promotion is not an easy task. I not only need to invest a significant time in the company but also, I have to give excellent performance om a regular basis. I feel that I should not only improve my performance but also, I should work upon my weak points. I am also working upon improving my emotional intelligence so that I can give my best performance. I feel that having a satisfactory level of emotional intelligence is must for becoming an effective leader (Afriana, 2021). ( competencies 8, 9, 17, 18)

Taking challenging projects 

I am planning to get success in my current company after delivering good quality of projects. I feel that having essential knowledge about engineering will also helps me in gaining right position in the company. (competencies 8,17)

Reading journals

I am planning to study some important journals of engineering on a daily basis so that I can enhance my knowledge in the field of engineering. Actually, mechanical engineering is a field in which the changes and updating take place on a regular basis that is why upgrading myself with the current knowledge of engineering is one of my short-term goals. ( competencies 4, 5, 6, 7)

Searching and subscribing news channels 

I feel that I should also accumulate the knowledge related with various industries. I am planning to search news on social media channels on a regular basis so that I can update myself with latest knowledge related to various industries. I am planning to search and learn the news about many industries so that I can develop my professional skills with respect to the business strategies. . ( competencies 4, 5, 6, )

Online courses 

I am planning to enhance my learning with the help of doing some effective online courses. However, I am a mechanical engineer but now a days, having expertise in handling digital sources is essential. I am planning to do online courses in the field of computer and data management so that I can get a competitive edge over my competitors in my profession. . ( competencies 4, 6, 7)

Gaining work experience 

Before some time, I felt that only gathering the experience of working in a company is sufficient for success but later on, I realized that enhancing my knowledge and learning is also essential for achieving success in my career. . ( competencies  7, 17)

Voluntary involvement 

I am also planning to achieve efficiency in operating the mechanical devices and tools which is the basic part of my job. I am a mechanical engineer and I have sufficient knowledge about operating the machines but still I want to gather the experience in this field so that I can become proficient in handling different types of machines and tools. I am planning to gathering an experience which is associated with handling different types of machines. This experience will surely help me in aching success in my career. ( competencies  7, 8)

Committing towards goals 

At the end, I am very much determined to fulfill all those activities which are required for achieving my short and mid term goals. I realized that if I will be able to achieve the above stated short and mid term goals of my career, I will surely achieve success in my profession. I feel that fulfilling the short and mid term goals are the key of achieving long term success in my career. ( competencies 4, 5,  7, 12, 13)

Portfolio of evidence 

• I am regularly watching various episodes on YouTube channels for enhancing my knowledge associated with engineering.
• ‘Minute physics’ and ‘Engeeneering.com’ are the channels which have subscribed by me so that I can receive the latest news about the engineering with the help of these channels(YouTube, 2021).
• I used to view these channels for receiving relevant and latest knowledge related with my field. I am very much determined to watch and gather the relevant information because I feel that updating myself with this current knowledge will surely help me in boosting my career and professional growth (YouTube, 2021).
• I have strated watching the shows the that can enhnce my knowledge
• ‘Designing the future’ and ‘Manufacturing the future’ are the very popular shows which gives a brief knowledge about the latest updating in the field of engineering. These shows are not only very helpful for the professionals but also it is helpful for the freshers because in these shows, only latest knowledge about the engineering is provided to the students(YouTube, 2021).
• I also watch the show ‘This week engineering’ on YouTube so that I can update about the current changes take place in the world of engineering. Actually, latest innovations are very common in the field of engineering(YouTube, 2021).
• As I have stated earlier that I would like to achieve success in my profession and for gaining success, I need to accumulate essential information about the industry.
• ‘Industry insights and trends’ is also a very popular show of YouTube which is able to provide latest knowledge about the industry(YouTube, 2021). This show is able to provide all essential knowledge about the industry in which the engineers and the other professionals have to work (YouTube, 2021).
• I am also planning to get engaged in ‘Ted Talk’, Professional practice video and News papers so that I can receive the latest knowledge about engineering.
• I also read many journals and books which are connected with engineering for enhancing my knowledge
• I also watch many Australian podcast series which are connected with the latest information about the engineering(podcast, 2021).
• Many podcast not only provide me innovative and latest information about my job but also it provides me a platform to learn many other things which are associated with the information(digital, 2021).
• ‘Engineering heroes’ is watched by me on a regular basis. This podcast helps me in understanding the various challenges which are associated with the engineering. By watching this podcast, I am able to resolve the challenges which may occur in my future profession(podcast, 2021).
• This podcast is really helpful for me because it contains many hurdles which may stop the people from achieving hike in the career. I feel that having the knowledge related with challenges will surely help me in solving many issues which may stop the growth of my career(podcast, 2021).
• I am also very much interested in gathering the knowledge about latest updates in my field that is why I read the book which is related with latest discoveries in engineering.
• I read the book which is related to geo technological engineering so that I can understand various aspects of engineering in the field of geo technology. As I have already stated that I am planning to join a construction company that is why I am focusing on enhancing my knowledge related with geo technology(Das, 2021).
• This book provides me a lot of knowledge about the discoveries which helps me in achieving professional growth(M Montalbán-López, 2021).
• I also read the journal article related with ‘Bridge engineering in photocatalysts’.
• This article helps me in understanding the role of photocatalysts at the different level of engineering(S Zhong, 2020).
• After reading the book, I realize that having sufficient knowledge about my field will surely help me in achieving long term growth and success. It also provides me a competitive advantage(M Montalbán-López, 2021).
• I also read the article named ‘Image engineering’. This article provides me a deep knowledge about the image engineering which is very successful for me in constructing huge buildings(Zhang, 2021).
• I am a mechanical engineer and I have to design various sites because this is a part of my job. This article is very helpful for me in improving my knowledge in the field of designing. As I have already discussed that designing is a very important part of my job(Zhang, 2021).
• Apart from doing all the above stated activities, I am very much focusses on my day-to-day job responsibilities. I learned many things about my job which helps me in gaining success.
• I also joined an online course which is related with improving my communication. As I have stated in the above section that improving my communication skills is one of my targets that is why I decided to join online classes of communication so that I can enhance my communication skills(era, 2021).
• I enrolled in an online course and I invest a significant time in improving my communication skills (era, 2021).
• As I have already discussed that I want to achieve professional competence so that I can get promotions and hike in my career.
  
  

 I feel that only reading the books, watching the YouTube channels and improving the communication is not sufficient for gaining success. I feel that I should work upon improving my interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence so that I can become an effective leader. I am observing my seniors and trying to analyses their behavior so that I can identify the pitfalls in my behavior which can prevent me from gaining success.

Part (3) 

On the basis of analysis of my short and mid term plans, it can be easily said that I am very much concerned with achieving growth in my profession. I made short term plans which are linked with enhancing my knowledge related with engineering. I also planned to join a construction company in which I can groom my professional skills. I also made mid terms plans for my career and I feel that achieving promotions and reaching up-to the leadership level is my mid term goal, which is very difficult to be achieved.

The various sources of evidence are also analyzed in the career professional development plan (CPD) and it was found that almost all the sources are effective and really helpful in enhancing my knowledge in the field of engineering. It is observed that enhancing the knowledge in the field of engineering is a difficult task. It requires constant dedication. As I have already discussed that I am planning to join a construction company in which I want to develop and utilize my professional skills. It is also noticed that focus I need to work upon improving my communication skills because it will help me in achieving professional competencies. I feel that I should also work upon improving my emotional intelligence. I sometime feel that if I would be more emotionally strong, it will help me in achieving a good command on my duties.

My whole plan is completely focuses on achieving efficiency in the field of engineering which paves the way of achieving long term success in my career. I realized that only accumulating the knowledge will not be able to help me in getting desired level of job, I need to improve my interpersonal skills along with enhancing my leadership qualities so that I can reach up-to a higher level in the company.

According to this plan, accumulating the latest knowledge related to engineering is very helpful for the young trainees. Sometimes, trainees can not be promoted due to the lack of knowledge. That is why I am completely focuses on gathering maximum knowledge related with latest innovations in the field of engineering (RL Silaban, 2021).

I feel that this plan is not only helpful in improving my knowledge but also it helps in the development of my professional skills which can contribute in achieving long term success in my career. This plan is equipped with watching various episodes of YouTube and watching the podcast related with engineering. Reading latest books and journals are also the part of the plan. If I will be able to execute this plan in my professional life, I will surely get success (H Aguinis, 2021).

However, it is very clear that achieving success in the profession is not a cup of tea. Regular hard work is must for gaining long term success in the career. This plan provides special focus on setting short and midterm goals. These goals provide a vision to me which is really helpful in achieving the desired success. Achieving success may be very difficult in the absence of short and mid term goals. These goals are associated with achieving hikes in the career. In short, it can be summarized that this plan is very helpful in providing long term success in the field of engineering (Afriana, 2021).
