After preventing any data loss by shutting down, the next step should be to change all passwords and ensure they are strong passwords according to the required standards. The IT department as a precaution for future event such as those, should think about implementing other security verification techniques such as using work email verification method, biometric, phones or using a security card verification system.
The main precaution plans that can be implemented include setting up the uninterrupted power supplies and automatic power generators or solar panels for power outages. For internet outages, both wireless and local area networks should be operational at all times so as to provide an alternative when one internet source is down. Data should also be regularly backed up on the cloud and the other servers.
The client might be interested in knowing whether the company stores all the data about the transactions and other business dealing that go on between the company and customers. The constant data backing techniques implemented in the cloud and other central servers should be evidence enough to give a response.
