Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was written by one of the most revered British authors, J.K. Rowling. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a 2001 guide book that revolves around the Harry Potter universe's magical & supernatural creatures and aesthetic world.

J.K. Rowling illustrated its original version that had been purported in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, to be Harry Potter's version of the same-named booklet. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them featured all comments and doodles made by Ron Weasley. It is believed that Weasley's comments had been written around the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a fantasy novel written by J.K. Rowling. Furthermore, Ron's doodles incorporated extra details for all Harry Potter enthusiasts. Acromantuala's entrance also included remark confirming Hogwarts' location in Scotland, as well with the comic relief, wherein, Ron Weasley had been recorded suggesting, "You're not kidding," while recognizing the Hungarian Horntail as one of the most frightening dragon in the multiverse. This was metaphoric to Potter's encounter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The cover of the book's first edition revealed claw marks from an apparently undiscovered animal (de Compos).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has now been in its fifty-second edition. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has recently been featuring six additional creatures, including the likes of the hodag, the hidebehind, the snallygaster, the horned serpent, the wampus cat, and the thunderbird, besides its original 75 creatures (Brummitt). In his foreword, Newt Scamander explains why the newly added creations were not included, citing MACUSA President Seraphina Picquery's insistence that the more important American creatures not be named in order to discourage wizarding sightseers throughout an era when the American wizarding community was subjected to marked persecution in contrast to their European counterparts, mostly post Scamander's contribution in breaching the International Statute of Secrecy in New York (Hartmann).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them benefited the Comic Relief, a British Broadcasting Corporation affiliated charity. Almost over 80 per cent of each copy's cover price went to the poor and needy children across the globe. Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling had announced in September 2013 of making a film adaptation of the novel. The film's screenwriter would be J.K. Rowling. Rowling took up the concept of adapting the book into a film shortly after Warner Bros. suggested it. The film featured Scamander as the primary character, and the movie had been set in New York City, which was released on 18^th November 2016. It was until 14^th March 2017, a new edition of the Fantastic Beasts was released and published, displaying illustration created by Jonny Duddle, coupled with Tomislav Tomic's interior illustrations. The new edition contains the additional six magical creatures and the foreword by the main character, Newt Scamander. It has been assumed that the new edition of Fantastic Beasts did not feature the presence of a singular handwritten note. The proceeds drawn from the new edition were donated to both Comic Relief and Lumos. On 7^th November 2017, the new edition had been published, having aesthetic illustrations developed by Olivia Lomenech Gill. A Kindle followed it in Motion edition on 1^st February 2018 that featured the same illustrations with the magical essence of movements, being released for all compatible devices (Hazarika).

Almost since its appearance at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been an official textbook. The masterpiece of Newt Scamander efficiently entertained each wizarding family across several generations. The book has often been regarded as an indispensable foundation to the supernatural beauty of every magical beast of the wizarding universe. Newt Scamander's years of research and travel gave life to an opus signifying unparalleled momentousness. Although few of the beasts would be rendered unfamiliar to the Harry Potter series readers, others would leave a considerable amount of excitement for the most zealous maladroit magizoologist.
