Teacher's prior preparation/organization:

What do you know about your class?

The class is made up of 20 students whereby most of them are girls that make the highest percentage in the class. They are 15 girls and five boys.

What do you know about your class?

To better understand the different students' abilities and capabilities, they have done two pre-tests to gauge their understanding ability. Out of that, it's good to conclude that most of them are very intelligent and have good retention abilities.

Do you have any data on the class? E.g., NAPLAN

Yes, to ensure a better understanding of the students, I have NAPLAN data of the various students. NAPLAN is the measure whereby schools, teachers, government, education authorities, and parents can determine if young Australians have the skills and capability that can ensure critical learning that can turn to be very productive in the community. Because of the reasons explained, I thought NAPLAN data in my class was very vital.

Do you have any case study learning difficulties students?

My students are some of the best in the Australian system, but I have a few who have difficulties in retaining information. Therefore, as a teacher, I am looking for different ways to ensure better information retention. This includes the use of techniques such as cooperative learning. Cooperative Learning-Here a teacher can encourage a mixture of the student with different abilities. This will in better sharing of ideas hence boosting confidence among other students.

Do you have high, medium, or low-level learners?

In any standard academic institution, they must be high, medium, and low-level learners. In my class, they are high, medium, and low-level learners, but the medium and high-level learners are many than the low-level learners therefore, to ensure improvement among the low-level learners a lot is being done such as the use of techniques such as cooperative learners where the top learners help the low-level learners to understand.

Students’ prior knowledge: What do students need to know before they can access this lesson? How do you know that they know it? Could you find this in the syllabus from a lower-level grade/stage?

Before any lesson, students should know that no subject is difficult to understand; this will enable them to have a positive attitude to ensure better results. Teachers should also provide the students with the course outline; this will help the students gather the relevant educational objects needed to ensure better understanding; for example, in our case, since the main focus is mathematics, a student should be able to have geometrical sets. To ensure that students are well prepared, the teacher should ensure continuous follow up that are meaningful in preparing the students. In the lower-level grade stage defiantly a great teacher who wants to ensure a better foundation for his/her students should employ such techniques are they have been proved to produce exemplary results.

Reading by students while following a well-thought-out lesson plan will ensure better and quality results. Quality and better results boost the student's attitude, ensuring better men and women in the society. Therefore, the general aim of both students and teachers should be to ensure quality.

What tools are you going to use to check for understanding?

To check for student's understanding, I will apply tests frequently; I will also use pop-up questions during lessons, and this will keep the students on their toes as they will not choose to forget what they have learned.

I should always ensure that I am in for lessons at the exact time.

I should always put into consideration both the students from the low-level learners to the top students.

I should always use techniques that the students can easily understand.

To ensure students improve, I will apply the below techniques;

1)Visualization-Bring different academic concepts to life by using practical and visual experiences. Give the students real-life examples and explain how their learning will be applied in real-life situations. An example of visualization can be using videos.

2)Using technology in the classroom using technology in classrooms by a teacher is a great and unique way to ensure that students actively participate in class. Most young people in the 21^st century are actively engaged with social media.

To check how much the students understood, I gave out a test in which some performed exemplary. From the tests, I did understand which students I should at least put more concerns on.

Motivation and Introduction (Tuning into the learning):

Also, I would not mind giving my students motivational speeches encouraging them to be the best out of what they get themselves into. I will encourage them to set goals which they can use to evaluate themselves.

What is your hook? How are you going to get the students interested in the lesson? How does this link to the last class? Do you have any behavior expectations that you need to remind them of?

To ensure that students concentrate till the lesson ended I would ensure I create some time for questions to ensure all students are involved. The questions that will be used will be of topics or situations learned in the class, and I would expect the students to behave well, whereby they won't mock other students or me.

Lesson sequence (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

Lesson Content.

The content of the lessons of  4 - 5 class( Year 7 to 10 ) since its maths will be algebra and the segments will not take more than 20 minutes.

Strategies.

To ensure the students get the most out of the lesson, I will encourage self-teaching among themselves. I will also encourage them to ask questions where they don't understand.

What should I concentrate on ensuring that the students understand the lesson better?

Which activities are you going to use to encourage student engagement, retention, and understanding?

To move from one activity to another, I would consider giving the students tests in between the activities to test their understanding ability.

Lesson Closure:

To wrap up the question, I will ask the students questions about the mathematical topics that have been covered through the lesson. Also, I will give a test that will be collected in the next lesson. The test will be entirely focused on what has been learned.

Transition: (What needs to happen before the next lesson?)

Before starting the next lesson, I will collect the previous lessons' tests and check if the students understood what had been tested. This will help decide if to repeat the content of the previous lesson or continue.

What do you need to do to link this to the next lesson?

I will prepare notes that will somehow relate to the previous lessons. The concepts will be related to the previously used ones so that the students can easily understand them.

Are you issuing homework? What is it? Is it open-ended or close-ended?

The homework that will be provided will be close-ended because this is a math lesson, and there are only one answer and several techniques around it.
