ENGR 498B Personal Statement

It was not from an early age that I knew what I wanted to take up as my subject for graduation. However, on being advised by my family and seniors, I decided to go with *subject name*. As my course with the *university name* began, slowly, I started to gain interest in the subject and was trying to give my best. However, due to some personal complications at home and their impact on me, I started to drift away from my academic career, without being little aware of the same.

It came to me like a blow when suddenly I had to complete all my assignments and write my examinations in order to carry on with my graduate program. Under this pressure, I started to complete my assignments in a hurry and made the mistake of plagiarism, which is no less than a crime in the academic world. As a result of this, I have been excluded from the degree program that I was undertaking.

Although I am aware of the seriousness of the act that has been done on my part, I would still hope to take another opportunity to complete my under-graduation program and get a degree. I am already done with twenty-two units in the concerned course and would really be thankful if I am allowed to complete the remaining units of the course.

If provided with an opportunity, I would pay utmost importance to the course and see to it that I do not repeat any of my previous mistakes. In today’s world, where education and its value are paid so much importance, I would like to get a second chance to prove myself and showcase my abilities.

Getting my graduation degree at this point is of major concern to me, as without one, my career would be at stake. After having spent a considerable amount of time pursuing the course, I now take a significant interest in it.  It is only due to a changed and troublesome environment that I was forced to take up unfair means. This is also because I desperately wanted to survive in the course. Although I had made a major mistake, I am now aware of the seriousness of the issue and can assure you that no such thing shall happen in the near future.

A second opportunity to complete my degree and a chance to rectify my previous mistake can act as a boon to my life. Not only will it provide me with a degree, but it also allows me to apply for jobs, have a good career and, in turn, a good life, both for myself and my family. If provided the opportunity, I shall leave no stone unturned to prove my worth. I shall also try to inculcate and learn other skills that can support my main subject. I shall also abide by all the guidelines provided by the university and its professors.
