ITECH7413 Supply Chain Operations and Management

Question 1

ERP Simulation is a cutting-edge game that supports corporate standards and cost accounting. We used the ERPsim software to form a four-person team to assist us in running our business, which is a real-world manufacturing supplier. In this sense, each member's actions had an impact on the enterprise, which led to the outcomes reported in the game lab log. Each member had a particular position assigned to them.

Production, preparation, procurement, and distribution are only a few of the things we've done. As a result, each member was given a time slot in which to provide input and reports. Members will use this study to achieve a better understanding of the agency they are dealing with and making more informed choices as a result. Make the most of your earnings.

Sales, Marketing, Planner, Production Manager, and Process Manager analysts were assigned to each part of my department. Among the obligations that had to be fulfilled were:

1. Create a list of self-contained specifications.
2. Put together buying orders

This enabled us to fulfil our responsibility for allocating funds to different activities (Léger, 2013). As a result, we were able to optimise income by making choices dependent on stock costs and revenue. Muesli breakfast cereals were stored, transported, and sold as part of our operation. The cereals featured nut muesli, blueberry muesli, strawberry muesli, lathe muesli, initial muesli, and mixed muesli, as seen in the diagram below –

These finished goods can be obtained via a variety of sources, including;

1. Hypermarket. Customers may receive up to three items in one wide 1kg crate. The payment deadline was set at 20 days. In comparison to ads, the price was extremely sensitive. The estimated business value per team was 90,000 euros per week (five days).
2. Grocery stores. The consumer bought four items in 500g and 1kg boxes and was ready to pay in 10-20 days. The store's weekly business share is estimated to be 220,000 euros per staff.
3. Independent Grocers. A convenience shop that is not owned by a chain. The package weighed 500 grammes. The commodity is purchased one at a time, with each team costing about €130,000 a week over the course of 1-20 days.
   
   

Question 2

The team's responsibilities involved not only the delivery of Muesli cereals, but also dealing with vendors. The consumer had to place an order for the desired item, and payment was rendered until the item was shipped. Each team member was assigned the position of executive, with the authority to report on or make changes in response to company input. Not only was our first team member given the task of being a strategist, but he was also given the task of operating MRP. The second member produced a purchasing order based on a planner's analysis, and the second member prepared publicity costs and handled the price list. It was also assigned revenue operations and inventory reporting responsibilities (Caya, 2014). Due to the dispersed nature of the positions, each participant was responsible for making the report accessible in order to promote the selling of shares and make the required changes in order to maximise benefit.

Question 3

Participating in this game provided me with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how the software has aided in the expansion and development of the company today. For us, this was a thrilling, demanding, and appealing game. Working as a team and trying to lead was very empowering. This game, as seen in the illustration below, assists us in analysing how our company has been conducted

Question 4

What I didn't like about this game was the added difficulty and the overall effect that the decision has on the outcome of our company, despite the fact that each team member was intent on achieving excellent outcomes in their respective positions. Not only did we have a lot of activities to do before, but if we didn't concentrate on one of them, we might have wasted money or lost all of our product. It was also a drawback not being able to keep track on how well company was performing throughout the game (Ortiz , 2013).

Question 5

SAP Lumira was critical in gaining a greater understanding of the game's development. Via review and sluggish inventory turnover, we were able to make changes to boost revenues in different regions at first.

The game also revealed the human capital were beneficial to the company and which were not. We were able to detect goods when they were required and raise costs while lowering costs for items travelling at a slower pace using this data.

Question 6

The aspect of this game that I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to gain new market experience. I was quite pleased with my experience and ability to operate a company with an innovative platform. And with just a little talent, my squad had all the faith it required to succeed. Many tactics that can be implemented to boost our company can be learned.

Question 7

Since the game was so tough, both of the players were willing to perform admirably. I believe that if my staff gets a better understanding of the supply chain as well as pricing, we would be able to maximise our revenue. By strategically promoting, marketing may have aided in the increase of revenue. ERP modelling games have shown you a variety of skills. To begin with, knowing how to use MRP and SAP SAHA was a huge step forward in the business world. This has aided our forecasting. Second, the lack of team unity is something I can do without in this game. It aided us in making choices that were beneficial to our business. I enjoyed how the game enabled me to rethink my strategies and make smarter choices in order to maximise revenue.
