Answer:

  1. A daemon is type of an application or a program which keeps running on Linux or Unix-like operating systems which runs obstructively in the background, rather than under direct control of the computer user; the program does this waiting to be activated by occurrence of a certain condition or event. The two roles of a daemons are; opening a network port like port 80, monitoring the system like to RAID array or the health of a hard disk and to run scheduled tasks.
  2. There are three types of file or folders access permissions these are; read, execute, and write.
  3. Physical memory exists on chips i.e. RAM memory and on the storage devices like hard disks. On the other hand virtual type of memory is the process whereby information or data such as programming code can be rapidly exchanged between RAM memory and memory storage locations; this allows the user of larger applications or programs to run them faster.
  4. The major differences between GNU and Linux is that GNU is an OS or operating system which is designed as a replacement for UNIX with lots of software programs or applications. On the other hand Linux is a combination software of Linux Kernel and GNU software.
  5. Bash script are very powerful and useful programming language which can be used to automate any manual task. There are various advantages of bash script over commands entered on command line, these are; it’s easy to learn and use, the sequence of various shell commands can be executed in a single command only, debugging is easier, and bash script written on Linux OS can be easily executed in any other Linux OS meaning it is portable (Pedamkar, 2020).

User management involves three major administrative tasks which are adding, removing, and modifying user accounts. It is important to note that a user account in Linux is a systematic way of monitoring and tracking the usage of system resources. Each and every user account contains two unique identifiers which are UID and username. There are three types of user accounts in Linux which are regular, service, and root. Root is the main user in the Linux system and it is automatically created during installation with the highest privilege. Regular is the normal user account while service account is created by installation packages.  User management includes everything from creating a user and deleting a user from their operating system. User management is usually conducted in three ways in Linux operating System. These are through graphical tools, command line tools, and editing local configuration files (Xiao, 2018, p. 112).

Part A: Linux Help command

Part B: How to list sub-directories

Part C: Adding a new user to one system

Part D: Creating a new directorty named NewDir

New Directory includes NewFile

Part E: Description of what command base64 /dev/urandom does

This is a way of creating scrolling characters on one display but it usually produces too many non-printable characters

Part E: compressing NewFile into file named NewFileComp

To start with Linux comes with a variety of flavors. It is important to note that Linux distributions feature specializations. There are loads or variety home distros i.e distributions that one can employ. First is Ubuntu. This one of the major best choices that one can opt as Linux media distro. This is because oof its massive application or programs capabilities and ease of use. Second, it is because it is debian based operating system. One can install many HTPC and several software options such as madsonic, docker, Radar, Subsonic for Linux. Also Ubuntu as a Linux media center can roll one own project one can benefit from several customized experience. Here one can install programs such as Kodi, Stremio, Plex and even what is known as RetroPie.

Another option for Linux media center is the OSMC. This is best for single-board devices especially for home desktop. With this type of media one can down, load OSMC for Apple TV, Rasberry Pi (Cotroneo, 2018, p. 117).

The last option for Linux media center and the recommended one in this case is the LinuxMCE. Here the MCE part standards for Media Center Edition. This type of media center provides a ten foot user interface for simple HTPC use. Also one can find video recorder commonly known as PVR and beefy home automation system. Also with type of Linux media center one is able to control climate devices, surveillance systems, home security, and lighting. It is important to mention that LinuxMCE ranks as one of the best HTPC distros and home automation use. Other reasons as to why it is the best option is because of its versatility and since smart homes are on the rise in the 21st century, LinuxMCE lends as a one-stop-shop for smart home and media (Bokhari, 2016, p. 113).

There are various ways one can test their Linux media center distributions. These are first trying to install it on virtual box and then testing it. This can be done on a USB or CD. The software or the virtual box allows one to install the piece of Linux center and able to access the performance. One of the reasons as to why this the best option to access LinuxMCE is because one is able to access effectively the entire LinuxMCE as if it is fully installed on one computer. Second test is what is known as live distribution test. This system justv downloaded and then copied on to a USB or Compact Disk. Then start the set as if one is running the full system. This testing mode can be used but one is only able to test only the main functionality of the system (Loscocco, 2020, p. 33).
