Hello Kolkebeck, I have read your post on varicella zoster virus and I find it informative. I read in your post about the severity of chicken pox in adults compared to children. I would like to add on what you have already discussed. You stated that the mortality rate of chicken pox is 31/100000 compared to the rate in children which stands at 1.4/100000, and this prompted me to research why adults are more vulnerable compared to children. I was even more shocked when I read in Centers for disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2021) that adults are twenty-five times more likely to succumb to chicken pox compared to children. Pregnant and adults with pre-existing conditions are also in danger of dying from this disease. Luckily, I can respond to you that I am already vaccinated, and my chances of suffering severe complications of its infections are relatively low, so I am not much worried.
